October 2025
by Quedgeley WI - October 19th, 2025.Filed under: Uncategorized.
Our October meeting began with the usual business including hearing that several of our members had enjoyed a recent visit to WI House in Gloucester, dates for our next Lunch Club and details of our Christmas meal at the end of November. With the colder weather soon to come our speaker Shelley Mole, an Energy Advisor with National Energy Action (NEA) a fuel poverty charity, gave useful advice on how to save energy. She went through the costs of running household appliances, the use of smart meters, the various ways to keep our rooms warm and the need to open windows, even in colder weather, to prevent mould and condensation. Registering on the Priority Services Register was advised, especially if someone finds it hard to read their meters as they can have them read every three months to ensure that they are not paying too much. Many of us will have received cold calls from our local “Energy Advisor” but the information we received from Shelley will be far more reliable.
November is the AGM when we will enjoy wine, nibbles and a quiz and in December we will have a Christmas themed Social Evening with American Supper and a competition for a homemade Christmas decoration. If anyone would like to come along to any of our meetings they will be made very welcome. We meet at 7:30pm on the second Wednesday of every month at Quedgeley Village Hall.
