Our president Pat Watts introduced Liz Griffiths a Trustee of Llanthony Secunda Priory Re-Formation to talk to us about its history and resurrection from dereliction. The history of the site goes back to the 12th century.

But after the dissolution of the monasteries it was owned by various people and used for many different things, latterly a turkey farm and a scrap yard. The project to bring the Priory back to use has taken a long time and the official opening was in 2018.

There were long setbacks when restorers found archaeological items on the site. Liz told us that Quedgeley church and some of the old farms belonged to the Priory in the past. A very interesting talk giving more Gloucester/Quedgeley history. Iris Base gave the vote of thanks.
